The Brisket Shoppe

As a true BBQ connoisseur from Texas who’s eaten at over 39 of the top 50 spots across the Lone Star State, I can confidently say Brisket Shoppe in Tampa *holds its own*. The brisket was packed with flavor—perfectly smoked with a bark that rivals some of the best I've had back home. The mac and cheese was creamy, rich, and hit the spot as a solid side. Ordering was simple via the tablet kiosk at the entrance, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. The highlight? I got an impromptu tour of the smokers in the back from the pitmaster himself—clearly someone who takes pride in his craft. This place has earned a spot in my personal *top 10* BBQ joints nationwide. If you're in Tampa and craving real Texas-style barbecue, do yourself a favor and stop by. I’ll definitely be coming back.

Not only is this my favorite barbecue place around here. But it's pretty much in the top three list of any restaurants I recommend someone trying when they visit from out of town. They have limited hours but I think that's a good thing. Everything they serve is delicious and I've eaten through most of their core items. They're always coming up with a new interesting side dish or fusion take on barbecuing. Overall if you want to get a barbecue platter it's served as about proper and traditional as you can get in this area. I could say a lot more good things about this place but you should go check it out for yourself. I stopped by as often as I can. They also have a bar inside and a few other updates that they've done more recently.

UPDATE: STILL the best BBQ in town. No burnt ends today, but the bit of my son's wagyu burger had to be the BEST burger I've ever had. Period. We got a little bit of everything on the menu, including burnt ends, brisket, sausage, pulled pork, empanadas, and various sides. It was hard to pick a favorite, but the burnt ends were damn near perfect. Mac and cheese had great flavor and was not mushy (thank you!). Collards were delicious!!! Potato salad was a little rich for my liking, but still good. Even the beans were good. Wish I'd have gotten the cilantro cole slaw, but there's always next time. Service was super friendly - offering free beer/water while we waited. Prepare to wait, but you'll be very glad you did. We will be back for sure!

I wanted to love this place so badly. I ordered the 2 meats / 2 sides, selecting the brisket + pork ribs along with mac n cheese + loaded potato salad. $24 for the tray in the photo which I feel is completely fair. The ambience, sides, and staff were excellent. The BBQ? Bearable. Which is SO disappointing. Unfortunately for true BBQ lovers, this IS the best spot in Tampa, but there’s nothing here that I will return for. Meat was dry and uninspiring, seasoning questionably random, and I honestly couldn’t tell you how it was prepared…maybe an oven? Seriously just so disappointed. If you *DON’T* hail from a Memphis, Kansas City, St. Louis, or Texas you’ll probably love this place. If you’ve had real BBQ on the other hand, don’t get your hopes up.

Ate there for the first time today. The Beef Ribs and Brisket are delicious. For over a year I have been searching for a place in west FL who makes beef ribs as good as Terry Black's in Austin TX, and I finally found it a The Brisket Shoppe in Tampa.

Absolutely love this place! Visited on my 40th bday. The food was excellent. Very high quality food. The ribs, turkey, brisket, and pulled pork were seasoned well and were moist. The baked beans were tasty and the mac n cheese was pretty good, too. The sweet tea was superb!

As someone who doesn’t love most barbecue places. The brisket shoppe really stands out to me because they have true Texas BBQ. Their Brisket is the best in Florida. Don’t sleep on the turkey, it’s not a dry Turkey that lacks flavor like most bbq places. I also like that they have more then just bbq on the menu, their craft Cuban is the BEST Cuban I’ve ever had! All the staff was so kind and made my experience truly one of a kind.
